The FDA approved Foundayo™ (orforglipron), from Eli Lilly, for adults with obesity or overweight who also have a weight-related health condition. It's the only GLP-1 weight-loss pill that can be taken at any time of day, with no food or water restrictions, unlike other oral treatments in the same family.
In the ATTAIN program's clinical trials, people on the highest dose lost an average of 12.4% of their body weight (about 12.4 kg / 27.3 pounds), combining the drug with a low-calorie diet and more physical activity.
Eli Lilly has also filed for orforglipron to be approved for type 2 diabetes treatment in the United States, with an FDA decision possibly arriving by the end of 2026, after the diabetes version was already authorized in Mexico under the name Foundayz.
