Abbott announced it has obtained CE marking in Europe for Libre Duo and Libre Duo 10 Day, presented as the world's first sensors able to measure both glucose and ketones at once, with readings every minute and no need for traditional blood or urine tests.
Until now, tracking ketones — whose rise can lead to diabetic ketoacidosis, a serious, fast-developing complication — required separate tests apart from glucose monitoring. By combining both values in a single sensor, the company aims to enable an earlier response to warning signs.
Abbott plans to launch Libre Duo in several European countries by the end of 2026, while continuing the approval process in the United States, where the company expects FDA clearance in the second half of the year.
