A recent report describes how a structured exercise intervention can help people with diabetes regain mobility, alongside improving disease control. Participants showed improvements in muscle strength and a reduction in pain and joint stiffness.

The program was also linked to better mobility and balance, which in practice translates into a lower risk of falls — an especially relevant point for older people with diabetes or with complications affecting foot sensation.

The authors highlight that this kind of intervention doesn't just affect glycemic control, but also helps prevent chronic complications and strengthen independence for everyday activities — a goal as important as glucose control itself.
